Natural Herbal Home Remedies For Insomnia

  • Drink chamomile, lobelia, or peppermint tea or warm milk before bed.

  • Honey is a very useful in Insomnia. It should be taken with water, before going to bed ,in doses of two teaspoons in a large cup of water.

  • Rinse the eyes with rosewater, then add a drop of ghee (clarified butter). Keep the eyes closed and sleep.
  • Curd is also useful in insomnia. The patient should take plenty of curd and massage it on the head. This will induce sleep.

  • A few hours before bedtime take Kava kava. Reduces stress, tension, anxiety and relaxes muscles. It helps to fall asleep deeper and to rest more.  It can be used as a sedative when taking a large dose, as effectively as, benzodiazepines but without the side effects.

  • Milk is very valuable in insomnia. A glass of milk, sweetened with honey, should be taken every night before going to bed in treating this condition. It acts as a tonic and a tranquilizer. Massaging the milk over the soles of the feet has also been found effective.
